Why and Where to Cut Calories

Why and Where to Cut Calories

In order to have the most successful weight loss, you have to cut calories. Follow the following formula to learn how simple it is to cut calories and see optimum weight loss results.

One Pound at a Time

Successful weight loss starts with cutting calories on a daily basis. However, you need to first understand how calories and weight loss work.

If 3,500 calories equals one pound, then in order to lose one pound a week, you need to eat 500 calories less a day than you normally do. If you cut 500 calories a day for seven days, then you will have consumed 3,500 calories less a week. This cut in calories will result in losing one pound a week.

Cut Beverage Calories

When pursuing weight loss, the first easy way to cut 500 calories a day off of your normal calorie intake starts with your beverages. Drink only sugar free drinks or water. Avoid high calorie coffees loaded with sugar, whole milk or cream, syrups or whipped cream. Even cutting out fruit juices and replacing them with calorie free water is a healthy step, and a great way to cut down on calories.

Cut Snacking Calories

The second easy way to cut 500 calories a day off of your normal calorie intake while working towards a weight loss goal is to cut down on unhealthy snacking. By changing what you snack on, you can cut calories quickly. Replace chips and crackers with healthy snacks like vegetables, fruit, or nuts. Just be careful how many nuts you do eat as they can be high in calories, also.

Cut Meal Calories

There are many ways to cut meal calories when trying to lose weight. For instance, you can replace many ingredients with low fat or fat free foods. Pay attention to serving sizes on packages. Follow the guide for one serving and eat only one serving. Another weight loss tip that can help with cutting calories is to try cooking with fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains for optimum weight loss results. Lastly, try adding fresh fish to your diet. For recipes that call for beef or chicken, replace them with fish.

Keep track of your calories in your weight loss journal, and then figure out where you can begin cutting calories for successful weight loss after reviewing the list. Just this awareness of what you are consuming will help you to cut down on that amount. And that will help you to lose weight.
