In fact, the average eight inch flour tortilla has 146 calories whereas the same size corn tortilla contains 94 calories. The next time you are in the mood for Mexican food or a wrap, choose the corn tortilla to help your weight loss.

Corn Tortillas

When looking for the best options in corn tortillas keep the carbohydrate count and whole grain ingredients as a determining factor to aid in weight loss. Buying organic will also ensure that you are not eating corn tortillas that have unhealthy oils. Better yet, if you can make your own corn tortillas with whole grain corn, heated in the oven rather than fried, then try this for optimum weight loss.

Tortilla Wraps

Try using corn tortillas for wraps instead of flour for an added weight loss benefit. Make a chicken and spinach wrap for a high protein meal or snack. Try filling the wrap with chicken, brown rice, black beans, fat free cheddar cheese, fat free sour cream, cilantro and barbecue sauce as another option. For a quick on the go wrap, fill it with turkey and avocado. The options are endless and using wraps instead of bread can make your road to weight loss much faster.
