Overeating and Long Term Weight Loss

Overeating and Long Term Weight Loss

There are many dangers to overeating that affect your weight loss efforts the go beyond the immediate intake of extra calories. However, there are ways you can stop binging when trying to lose weight. Follow the weight loss tips below to see how you can control overeating.

Lack of Energy

Did you know that overeating can make you feel tired and lethargic?

Long term weight loss is related to many facets of how much you eat and how often.

Keep this in mind as the more energy you have, the more calories you will burn. Start thinking of food as an energy source, rather than as a form of comfort.

Tummy Stretch

Another downfall to overeating is that it stretches out your stomach providing even more room for more food the next time you chow down. You want to shrink your stomach rather than stretch it out.

Drink More Water

Water and weight loss are directly linked. One of the easiest ways to combat overeating is to drink plenty of water. The more you hydrate, the less you will eat. The water will also help rid the body of impurities which have been stored up due to overeating.

Drink Less Caffeine

Caffeine and weight loss are negatively linked. Try to cut out your caffeine or limit your intake. By limiting your intake of caffeine, you will cut out some of your cravings as caffeine often makes you eat more than you should.

Drink Less Alcohol

Alcohol can also be a culprit of overeating. This is usually not an occurrence while you are drinking but rather the following day after drinking quite a bit. High fat and high calorie foods are usually what people crave after a night of excessive drinking. Limit your alcohol intake to one beverage and avoid the day after a food binge.

Night Time Snacking

Many of us do not overdo the healthy snacks during the day but tend to snack into the night. This is probably worse than overeating during the day, because you burn fewer calories at night and very few calories while you are sleeping.

Try to implement the no food after 7:30 rule. This way you can burn off calories before you go to bed. A great way to implement this rule is to brush your teeth after dinner. You will be less likely to munch if your teeth are clean and minty!

Overeating just one day a week can kill your diet and weight loss efforts. Follow the tips above and learn how to control overeating for weight loss success!
