Little Changes Make a Big Difference

Little Cooking Changes Make a Big Difference

Sometimes all you need to do to kick start your weight loss is make little changes. Little changes in your cooking at home can make a big difference when it comes to seeing weight loss results.

Cook Fresh

A great way to start small in your weight loss efforts is to make a commitment to cook using fresh ingredients and whole foods. With a busy life it is so easy to get caught up in the convenience foods. You are short on time and are forced to cook a frozen prepackaged meal or a prepackaged box meal. Follow the weight loss tips below and start cooking fresh now.

Start small and make a commitment to cook at least two meals from scratch twice a week for optimum weight loss results. Use fresh ingredients like fresh vegetables, fresh fish, chicken or meat. Plan it out at the beginning of the week to cook fresh on nights when you know you have the time to cook from scratch. You and your family will feel better eating healthier.

Change Your Oil

Another great weight loss tip is to change the type of oil you use. Cook only with extra virgin olive oil for the greatest health benefits or try using non-fat cooking sprays to cut down on calories. Instead of using oil in baking, substitute non-sweetened apple sauce in your recipes for weight loss friendly desserts.

Cut Your Portions

For optimum weight loss, cut your meat, fish, and poultry portions to only six ounces a day. Six ounces a day is the preferred amount to lower cholesterol and fat in your diet. If you are not sure how much six ounces is, buy a scale or use the palm of your hand for a measuring tool. In other words, the amount of meat you eat should not exceed the size of the palm of your hand. If you have a rather large hand, you may need to alter this a bit.

Small changes in your lifestyle can render big results in your weight loss efforts. Ask yourself what you can do to make your meal weight loss friendly before cooking.
