One of the best, and most pleasant, weight loss tips is to consume lots of fabulous fruit. It is sweet, healthy, filling, fat-free, and very low in calories. Whole foods like fruit and vegetables and grains are important to your weight loss plan. You should eat at least five servings of fruit a day.

Fresh Fruit

Fresh fruit is the best kind of fruit to eat while on a weight loss plan. Fresh fruit contains no additives like processed sugar. Avoid canned or prepackaged fruit which usually contains sugars and preservatives. Frozen fruit is not much better and often loses some of its nutrients during the freezing process. It can also contain sugar or preservatives. For successful weight loss eat only fresh fruit.

Forget Dried Fruit

Dried fruit might seem like a convenient way to eat fruit, but it should not be part of your weight loss plan if fresh fruit is available. Often dried fruit contains sugar and preservatives which spike the calorie count. Your weight loss plan should minimize your calorie intake.

Find Fruits High in Pectin

Here’s a weight loss tip that you might not be aware of: fruits can actually speed up your metabolism. While trying to lose weight, you want to eat foods that speed up metabolism so that you can burn more calories. Burning calories leads to weight loss. Fruits containing high amounts of pectin naturally speed up your metabolism.

Bananas, citrus fruits like grapefruit, oranges, and lemons, grapes, prunes, plums, bananas, berries like strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries, and apples are all high in pectin. Try adding fruit to smoothies or cereal, or use it to make dressings or marinades or salsa. Fruit makes a great snack or dessert. If you make fruit available in your house or when you are on the go, you can avoid foods that hinder your weight loss.

Fruit and Fiber

Fruits are high in fiber. Eating fiber helps you lose weight which helps you meet your weight loss goal. Foods high in fiber makes you feel full longer, so you actually eat less. Fiber also maintains regularity which keeps that excess belly weight to a minimum. There are many benefits to eating fruit. Eating fruit is good for your health and is a necessity to weight loss.
